Shona artists, as well as African artists from other local and regional groups have long been exponents of the abstract, often using natural characteristics of the stone to develop the finished sculpture. We are continuing to import a much larger selection of abstract, hand-carved stone African art, particularly relating to families, couples, wedding dancers, and family groupings (ukama). African artists continue their use of some incredibly attractive stone to create works that please even the most devoted collector of realistic sculpture.
